Your Words Matter Here: Contribute to Dose of Wonder
A gentle call for guest writers who explore mental health with heart, nuance, and honesty
Have you been writing—or wanting to write—about mental health, mindfulness, or personal growth? I'd love to feature your work in Dose of Wonder.
And by “mental health,” I don’t just mean therapy or diagnoses (though those are welcome too). I mean the wide, tender landscape that includes:
Grief and loss
Mindfulness and meditation
Self-help and personal growth
Emotional and physical well-being
Musings on meaning, beauty, and being human
And of course… those unexpected doses of wonder
This is the first official call I’ve put out for guest writers here on Substack. So yes, I’m new to this, and we’re figuring it out as we go. But if you're someone with something heartfelt to say—and it fits the spirit of this space—I’d love to hear from you.
Who I’m Hoping to Hear From:
I imagine a few kinds of folks might be interested:
1. Writers Already Exploring These Themes
You already write about mental health, personal growth, or emotional wellbeing in your own Substack. You’re looking to share your voice with a broader audience, and this feels like a natural fit.
2. Writers Who Don’t—But Want To
Your usual writing focus is something else entirely—but you’ve had a piece brewing about grief, burnout, mindfulness, or a personal turning point… and it just doesn’t quite fit your usual tone or theme. Rather than dropping it in out of the blue and confusing your readers, you could publish it here.
3. Writers Who Want to Cross-Pollinate
You fall into either group above and want to share your work with a new audience—my readers (650 and growing!)—while still keeping your own community in the loop. A guest post is a great way to extend your reach while collaborating with someone who gets the vibe.
How to Submit:
If that sounds like you, send your piece my way! Here’s how:
Email your submission as a Google Doc or Word doc to: caitlinmccoll@substack.com
Use the subject line: “Dose of Wonder Substack Submission – [your topic]”
(Example: “Dose of Wonder Substack Submission – grief & healing”)
In the email, feel free to include:
Any images you’d like me to include (header or in-post). Please credit the source (Unsplash, personal photo, etc.).
A short author bio + a link to your Substack or website.
If I choose your piece, I’ll send you an official guest post invite through Substack. You’ll be able to preview the draft and approve it before anything goes live. Your name will appear in the byline, and I’ll include your bio and Substack links at the top and bottom of the post.
Once published, the post will be emailed out to my subscribers, and you can also cross-post it to your own list using the three-dot menu at the top or bottom of the post (Note: this feature only works on desktop or browser, not in the app).
A Few Final Notes:
Depending on the volume of submissions, it might take a few weeks for your piece to be featured. Thank you in advance for your patience.
You’ll get an email notification when your post is published and ready to share.
Let’s Collaborate
I can’t wait to spotlight other voices here in Dose of Wonder. If this invitation speaks to you—whether you’re an experienced writer or just have one important story to tell—please reach out.
Thanks for considering it. And as always…
Live with a dose of wonder.

Thanks for linking back to this post on your recent musings on noticing. I missed this one -- and I'm definitely interested. I'll have to give a think about what it is that I might offer but you can expect an email from me soon, I hope!
What a great idea. Thank you, Caitlin!
