Hello all you beautiful beings!
I just wanted to send a little note of thanks, of appreciation for subscribing to me/my As of writing, I now have 580 of you beautiful souls subscribed to receive or read my writings (and countless followers too). And that just blows my mind!
I can’t really wrap my head around it. In a good way.
I just can’t believe that you all have subscribed to read the words, thoughts, experiences and musings of little ‘ol me, who often feels like she has nothing overly important or interesting to say.
A girl who grew up as a shy wallflower (and is still a wallflower a lot of the time, at 45 years old), hanging back in the shadows, observing and listening, but never really participating. Standing at the sidelines. Not feeling worthy or special enough to step out of the shadows and into the light.
After all, who am I, really?
Even when I’m around family, and if there’s more than just me and one other person, I mostly sit and listen and nod and chime in with the odd ‘mm hmm’ of agreement or just stay silent.
I am a soaker-up of things - of energy, of words and conversations, of interactions. I take things on, into me. I’m like a sponge that only releases stuff into the world when squeezed, when I’m too full of things I want to say.
For a long time at my workplace, when I was younger, not so much now, I would hardly speak to anyone. And then people were surprised when I did actually open my mouth and talk and they’d exclaim ‘oh so you do speak!’
Yes, I do. But I don’t just speak for the sake of it. Only when I have something important I want to say. Only when it’s worthwhile.
I’m more talkative now at work than I was 10 or 15 years ago, but I still save up my words and thoughts inside me until I’m ready to share them. When the time is right (there is never a right time) when I feel the time is right.
Words are precious. Our thoughts and feelings, emotions and experiences are special because they are unique to us. They are things we carry around inside us - sometimes light, sometimes heavy - keeping them safe until we’re ready to share them. We are their protectors until they’re ready to be released into the world.
And on Substack, I feel safe and comfortable enough that I can share them with all of you beautiful beings. And I’m so grateful for that.
So, thank you. From the bottom of my heart. You’ll never know how much it means for this introverted protector of words to have heart and minds to share my inner world with. People that hopefully relate to me. That see me. Even if I’m standing in the shadows.
I appreciate all of you, for appreciating me.
And if you do enjoy my writings, and my podcast, I would very much appreciate it if you could share my publication as a Recommendation here on Substack and Restack anything that really resonates with you!
